Well the change is on. My elementary school, gluten-free daughter is moving on — whether I like it or not. Next year she’s off to Middle School, which means a whole different ballgame for me when it comes to lunch.

Months of planning for our celiac fundraiser in the Twin Cities all comes down to what happens between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. the day of the event. All you wonder about before is — “Will it all work out?” And all you say after is, “Thankfully it did”! And last Saturday — it did, but there’s a lot of hard work, deliberation and, sometimes, turmoil in the process.
I don’t know which one is more emotional for me: the excitement when a new product starts or a new gluten-free friendly store opens or the disappointment when a gluten-free product is discontinued or the store closes. Well the disappointment has set in with a great gluten-free shop — closing it’s doors.

During a recent stop at a local book store with the kids I thought I’d check out the health and diet sections to see what books they have on celiac disease and gluten free diets. I didn’t really need another book, but I was willing to splurge if I found one I wanted. Boy..what a disappointment.
