Recall Alert: Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
February 10, 2009 by Amy Leger | G+ Amy LegerThe peanut butter-salmonella investigation is getting more intense and widespread. Today Trader Joe’s recalled several cookie products — including its Frozen Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. Check your freezers!
According to the Food and Drug Administration: the Frozen Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookie Dough is sold in Trader Joe’s stores Nationwide. It comes in a 15.3-ounce portion (SKU 91167). The FDA says the product was pulled from the shelves “…because the products contain peanut butter that was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), which is the focus of an ongoing Salmonella investigation.”
Trader Joe’s pulled all affected products off store shelves in advance of the recall. Customers who have this product in their homes, can return them for a full refund. If you have additional questions you can contact Trader Joe’s at (626) 599-3817.
Wondering about other products, the FDA has a searchable database of the hundreds of other food items that have been voluntarily recalled. The FDA continues to remind consumers that national brands of jarred peanut butter are not affected by the recall.
Eight Americans have died and at least another 600 have become sick after eating the tainted peanut butter.
