If you are in Minnesota, or the upper midwest for that matter, and you live a gluten-free lifestyle, the place to be this weekend is at the Making Tracks for Celiacs Event in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota!
Saturday, May 4th is the 12th year for the annual Walk-Run for Celiac Disease.
The fundraiser really is great! It is one of the largest gluten-free events in Minnesota and possibly in the 5 state area. There is a 5K run, 2-mile walk and of course the gluten-free food expo. The kids have an area with games and facepainting.
But ultimately it is a fundraiser for the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment at Mass General. Twin Cities ROCK, the organizer of the event can keep up to 25% of the funds raised to help pay expenses for the walk and for other educational opportunities throughout the year.
Some of the vendors include: the Original Pancake House, Mad Jacks Sports Cafe, Omission Beer, Fresh and Natural Foods, Pizza Luce, Domata Flour, Bliss Gourmet, Crazy Puppy Gourmet Workshop and many more! Gluten-free samples will also be available. Our honorary co-chairs of the event, Former NFL MVP and current CBS NFL Analyst Rich Gannon will be there as will FOX9 anchor Heidi Collins!
Registration for the walk and expo or the expo-only is $20 with a family cap of $60. Kids ages 7 and under get in free. Registration for the 5K run is $25. All participants who register will get a t-shirt! If you can’t make it please consider making a donation!
Finally we may still be in need of some volunteers. People who volunteer their time get into the event for FREE! Click here to sign up. Please do so before Friday, May 3rd. I will be there doing some announcing. So if you see me be sure to stop by and say Hi!
