Highlight Reel from Gluten-Free/Allergen-Free Expo Day One
April 20, 2013 by Amy Leger | G+ Amy LegerI just wanted to let folks know about the first day of the Gluten-Free, Allergen Free Expo in Chicago today. It was fantastic! Great people, great food, and great information!
The blogger area where my “home base” is has many of my colleagues there with great goodies for participants to check out. Fellow bloggers like Pretty Little Celiac, Celiac and the Beast, Vegetarian Mamma, Rockin’ Gluten Free, and Daily Forage are just some of the folks that I have known virtually and finally met in person Saturday.
But everywhere else you go there is a sea of gluten free vendors and people! I heard the word “Amazing” several times as I walked around the expo hall. I saw products that were new to me like Local Oven‘s Onion Rolls and Pita Bread and new (to me) trends using and marketing “ancient grains”. Sunday will be the big test of me going around and tasting everything and trying to pick the best of the foods at the expo in an upcoming post.
The guest speakers on infertility, vitamin D and using enzymes to help with gluten intolerance have been good as well, with more to come tomorrow. I am doing a lot of posting on Twitter and Facebook. You can see more photos of day one on my facebook page. So if you want more, real-time updates you should check there. Otherwise I am busily getting fodder for a ton of upcoming posts.
