The 9th Annual Walk/Run for Celiac Disease planning is really coming to a crucial point and there is a lot to do. I coordinate our local event in the Twin Cities (held on Saturday, May 15th this year) and we raise money for the University of Maryland’s Center for Celiac Research. It is a lot of work, but so rewarding.
Coordinating the event is about meeting deadlines. I have just finished the deadlines in acquiring sponsors. I am proud to say we have 15 sponsors for the event: Holy Family Catholic High School (where our event is held), CH Robinson Worldwide, Cargill, International Rarities Corp, Fafinski Mark & Johnson, Rapala, John Roberts, Liesch and Associates, Tailor Made Nutrition, Fresh and Natural Foods, CobornsDelivers.com, Jewel’s Specialty Foods, Nutritional Weight and Wellness, Godfather’s (yes they have gluten-free pizza) and Fruchi Fruit Smoothie!
Vendors are rolling in too! I’ll list them off later since it’s still a work in progress. But the next big part is the permits and canopies, getting volunteers, accepting (and keeping organized) product donations (for the food fair pictured above), plus we’re starting a silent auction this year — a few big items we already have: a signed football by Viking Percy Harvin plus a baseball signed by Minnesota Twins player Michael Cuddyer! If you’re a sports fan you’ll want to be sure to check that all out!
Registration is free for walkers abut we ask that you collect donations or drop off a donation when you register. Everyone who registers gets a door prize ticket too! T-shirts will be a performance/technical style and will cost $10 at the event. For more information check out the Walk/Run for Celiac Disease tab at www.twincitiesceliacwalk.org.
This year is shaping up to be a great one! I’ll keep you updated on continued planning and the big day right here!
