One of the newest gluten-free companies on the market also has some of the most promising baked goods I’ve ever tasted.
Recently when I taught a gluten-free class at the Just Foods Co-op in Northfield, Minnesota, I went in to buy a few products when the class ended. I spotted Udi’s Gluten Free foods. I’d heard of the company, but at that time, the brand wasn’t being sold near me so I never got around to making the trek to find them. But once I spotted them at the co-op I snapped some up.
I was so antsy to try the Udi’s blueberry muffins, I cracked them open the next morning. Emma tried them and was somewhere between maybe thinking they were okay and not liking them. But she doesn’t ever remember having “regular” bread or bakery products. So in this case, these muffins might be better tasted by someone who’s had more experience with gluteny products.
But when I tried them, I thought they were fantastic!! They weren’t grainy at all. And they were fluffy, soft and big like the kind you would get at a restaurant.
I was pretty generous with these muffins. They only came in a 4-pack (for about $6.50) and I gave away two to Emma’s student teachers as a thank you (can you believe both of them were on a gluten-free diet?). I gave the last one to my dad. He thought they were pretty good as well.
If you can find Udi’s at your local market, I totally recommend trying the brand. If you can’t get Udi’s near you, you can order online. One of my next reviews will be of the Udi’s bread products…I’m looking forward to it!
